Variations in Green Pitcher

It’s possible to understand the science behind why glazes do what they do, chemistry, heat, minerals, and reaction. I used to hold more of that knowledge in my head. Now, I trust experimentation just as much. Testing. Layering. Paying attention to what the outcomes of each firing.

Here, a green glaze layered beneath yellow, with wax resist brushed across the surface to create breaks in the glaze.  The occasional speck comes from iron flakes in the clay.
